Welcome to our website!
Image guided diagnostics and therapy has grown over the last decades dramatically, especially in the field of cardiovascular imaging. Furthermore, increasing diversification in that field of cardiovascular imaging demands a high degree of specialization and continuous updating and training. Fully aware of this vital necessity the ESR and the ESCR have jointly reacted with various activities. It is the primary common objective to offer training and professional development as well as research opportunities for all European Radiologists in the field of cardiovascular imaging and image guided therapy.
Additionally, we want to sustainably support an interdisciplinary dialogue of all medical professionals working in the field of cardiovascular imaging. This is a basic requirement to keep the quality of cardiovascular imaging at its present high level. Moreover, all the new fascinating possibilities should be more widely rolled out across the EU.
Therefore, the European Board of Cardiovascular Radiology (EBCR) Diploma was established in 2011, endorsed by the ESR. The EBCR Diploma confirms specific competence of radiologist to perform, interpret and report cardiac CT and MR independently. To be able to finally take the exam for the Diploma we have started to implement a dedicated training curriculum of basic and advanced courses in Cardiovascular Imaging in Spring and Autumn at the ESR Learning Center in Barcelona, including practical teaching in small groups on Cardiac Workstations using a new Case Based Data base, which should continuously grow with Cases submitted by our members and Training Course Attendees.
However, the already established educational programs and training fellowships of the ESOR and the ESMRMB school of MRI will be continued and integrated in the Curriculum.
The Cardiac MRCT-Registry (http://www.mrct-registry.org) is an additional milestone in this direction, which helps our members and our society to document and finally certify their manifold activities in imaging patients with cardiovascular diseases. With more than 45.000 submitted Cases of Cardiac CT and MR examinations after only two years, it is becoming one of the world´s largest databases in Cardiac Imaging.
With more than 1.100 active members our relatively young society (founded in the year 2000) is now the third largest subspeciality within the European Society of Radiology (ESR).We invite you all to visit our website, become a member of our society and to be an active part of it and the fascinating world of Cardiovascular Imaging.
With best wishes,

ESCR is now on Facebook!
The ESCR Facebook page enables you to interact with the society and its members. To enhance your knowledge on cardiac imaging, learn about the latest medical imaging hardware and software, distribute information on various congresses and events related to cardiac imaging, and present and discuss interesting cardiac cases with your colleagues. Of course, the page should also help everyone to connect with fellow professionals, also for people new to the field to start building their networks.
